Cade Morris, catering associate, received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in management. Having joined catering services in 2018 as a Middle Georgia State University student, Morris plans to continue in food service while pursuing a master’s degree in business.
Through a collaboration between MGA’s Auxiliary Services and Bibb County School District, MGA Dining Services provided internships to Project SEARCH students. Project SEARCH is a nine-month training program for students with developmental disabilities. Student participants complete internships on Middle Georgia State University’s Macon campus to build work skills with the goal of employment at the end of the program.
During the 2020-2021 academic year, seven students interned as baristas, dining service associates, salad preppers, or sandwich artists at Camelot Court, Subway, and Café Diem – Starbucks. Each intern received an opportunity to work with mentors, to gain hands-on experience in the food industry. This is the third year MGA Dining Services has participated in the program.
